PIMC (Powder In-Mould Coating) applies a powder coating to the hot mold surface before pressing the SMC/BMC part. Since it shares the same unsaturated polyester resin base, the coating reacts and cross-links together with the material during molding, forming an inseparable chemical bond — with no need for primer, filler or subsequent paint. The result is a surface resistant to scratches, chemicals, UV and weathering, which also hides the fiber texture and porosity typical of SMC/BMC.
